The Colomba mould: part of tradition
The history of the Colomba mould is closely linked to the evolution of this iconic Easter cake. Since the very first industrial productions, Colomba has been baked in paper moulds specifically designed to support the delicate proofing stages, ensure stability during baking, and deliver a recognizable, uniform shape.
The mould has never been merely a container: it has become a functional element of the production process, capable of combining tradition and innovation while supporting production scalability without compromising the cake’s symbolic identity. In this sense, the Colomba mould represents a small yet essential component that has enabled this product to preserve its values of quality, consistency, and aesthetics, even as it transitioned from artisanal to industrial production.

Ecopack Colomba moulds are designed to ensure excellent resistance to high temperatures and sufficient structural integrity for presenting the finished product. The entire range is made from compostable paper and is certified OK Compost Industrial by TUV Austria. The materials used are food-contact certified and comply with environmental standards, and the use of compostable paper helps reduce environmental impact without compromising baking performance.
Colomba baking moulds are available in five sizes, ranging from 100g to 1.5kg, to accommodate different production needs. The precision in mould manufacturing ensures uniform dimensions, making them easy to handle even in large-scale production. Ecopack Colomba moulds are suitable for use with automatic depalletizing machines and high-capacity production lines.
Ecopack moulds withstand oven temperatures up to 220 °C and can also be used in freezing conditions. The paper structure promotes even heat distribution during baking, contributing to consistent product rising.
Ultimately, the mould is not just a simple baking container: it represents the first essential step of the entire production process, whether artisanal or industrial. Choosing a reliable mould like Ecopack directly affects the quality of the finished product, its presentation, and the consistency of the proofing, ensuring consistent results every time.
Beyond its technical role, the mould also provides practical benefits in daily production management: it simplifies operations, reduces preparation and maintenance time, and helps optimize production lines without compromising the final result. For companies focused on sustainability, using certified compostable moulds also means integrating responsible choices into the production cycle, contributing to environmental impact reduction while maintaining high performance.
Paying attention to this detail from the very beginning helps lay the foundation for a more efficient, reliable, and sustainable production process. The mould thus becomes much more than a simple tool: it is a strategic element that supports the entire process, from dough preparation to the presentation of the finished cake, ensuring quality and consistency at every stage of production.
