Coppa del Mondo del Panettone 2026: Milan, capital of leavened baking

The countdown has begun
Less than a month to go until the final. On 7 and 8 November, Milan becomes the beating heart of the ultimate leavened cake: panettone.
The Hotel Meliá Milano will welcome finalists from 19 countries around the world. At stake is the title of Best Panettone at the Coppa del Mondo del Panettone, the most coveted award for those who work every day with sourdough starter, time and patience.
And this year, we’ll be there too: Ecopack is taking part in the event as a sponsor.
What is the Coppa del Mondo del Panettone?
This competition was created to celebrate the history, culture and artisanal complexity of panettone. It honours a product that has crossed geographical borders and outgrown its seasonality to become a symbol of Italian pastry-making around the world.
The event was conceived and promoted by Master Pastry Chef Giuseppe Piffaretti. It debuted in Lugano in 2019 and returned to the same city in 2021. The third and fourth editions were held in Milan, in 2022 and 2024.
With November’s final, Milan once again confirms its status as the capital of panettone.
More than a competition
Alongside the competition, the event offers a rich programme of cultural and educational activities, including demonstrations, tastings, exhibitor visits, workshops and hands-on labs.
The aim is to explore and share the excellence of a product that has conquered the international confectionery scene. For professionals and enthusiasts alike, it’s a chance to see the finest master bakers at work and to connect with the people who make this iconic leavened cake so great.
Ecopack, sponsor of the final
For us at Ecopack, sponsoring the Coppa del Mondo del Panettone means standing alongside those who have made artisanal quality their craft. A great panettone is born from carefully selected ingredients, long rising times and care at every stage, right up to the moment it reaches the hands of the person tasting it.
We share these values and are proud to support an event that brings Italian panettone to the international stage. On 7 and 8 November we’ll be at the Meliá Milano to experience the finalists’ challenge up close.

See you in Milan
The countdown has officially begun. Nineteen finalists, two days of competition and leavened-baking culture, and just one title up for grabs.
