Our Commitment to a Protected Chain of Custody: The Importance of FSC™ Paper in Ecopack

At Ecopack, we have resolutely embraced the use of Forest Stewardship CouncilTM (FSC™) certified paper in the production of our primary food-contact packaging.
Ours is a 360-degree ethical commitment, aiming to protect forests and the environment through ethical and conscious business choices and practices.

What is FSC™?

FSC™ is the world’s most accredited forest certification. Through its independent management and a rigorous control system consisting of questionnaires, verification audits, and continuity of control over the entire business process, FSC™ certifies that companies source paper from controlled forests, avoiding protected areas or the use of chemicals toxic to biodiversity, but also that the forests they source from are managed in a way that prevents the loss of forest cover, and in a way that does not harm biodiversity or local communities.

Social Ethics

In addition to the Chain of Custody verifications, FSC™ verifies the basic social ethics requirements within its system:

1. Verifies that ethical requirements are met in the hiring of workers and the safety of the worker in the workplace.
2. Ensures access to markets exclusively reserved for FSC™-labelled products, which are increasingly in demand by governments governments.
3. Mandates the involvement of local communities in the management of forest areas, protecting indigenous peoples.
4. Verifies management operations with audits and requires publication of audit results, including from private entities.

In this way, FSC™ ensures not only environmental benefits, but also social and economic benefits.

Ecopack and FSC™ Paper

To date, our leadership has taken the initiative to purchase only FSC™ certified paper, producing products that follow the Chain of Custody, ensuring traceability, environmental protection, social responsibility and an economic balance.
Our decision to use certified FSC™ paper is a concrete statement: we want to actively contribute to the sustainable management of forest resources.
The paper that becomes part of the primary food contact packaging production cycle are to produce the products is 100% certified, and the entirety of our product range can be produced FSC™ guaranteed upon request.

Our Business Model

The fiber used in the production of our paper is a certified resource, sourced from responsibly managed forests controlled through Chain of Custody. Our paper suppliers are certified to FSCTM, ISO14001, ISO9001 and BRC and/or IFS standards. These certifications reflect our deep commitment to meet the highest standards and take a step forward in our journey toward a more sustainable business model, and environmental responsibility at every stage of production.
